Ruth Henriquez shares with ProspectingToday how she engages with the community to grow her database.
Ruth Henriquez pushes herself to have 20 conversations about real estate everyday. She suggests agents get involved in their Chamber of Commerce, business workshops, and any business oriented groups available in their area. Henriquez strikes up conversations at her local Starbucks and in areas where she notices business men and women congregate. She begins her conversations by asking, “what do you do for a living”? As the conversations turn, it gives her an opportunity to let them know she is an agent, and she always leaves them with her card.
Engaging with strangers can be intimidating. It can be helpful to make the conversations about them and provide compliments to open a conversation. If striking up a conversation face to face with a stranger is out of your comfort zone, start on the phone first. Calling “For Sale by Owners” (FSBOs) and expired listings is a great place to start.
Get creative about your ways to meet new clients. Here are some ideas of where to start:
- Host an event
- Start a club or a group
- Interview local representatives and business owners
- Start a neighborhood social media platform
